jackpotcasinos.org When people think of casinos, they tend to think of Las Vegas or Atlantic City. Many people never think of Jackpot, Nevada, even though the Jackpot casinos have been a popular gaming destination for more than 50 years.
The first of the Jackpot casinos opened in 1954. When Idaho outlawed all forms of casino gaming, a couple of casino owners crossed the Idaho-Nevada border to the town of Jackpot. The casinos they opened, Cactus Pete’s and the Horseshu Club, immediately became hot attractions for the residents of Idaho and neighboring states. Cactus Pete’s is now one of the largest gaming spots in northeast Nevada, boasting over 26,000 square feet of casino space.
Granted, not everyone who visits Jackpot goes for the casinos. Jackpot also has an 18-hole golf course for those who prefer to spend time on the links. The golf course is even open in winter, with non-white balls so they can be seen in the snow! There is also a runway for private planes, which is also home to numerous fly-ins and air shows throughout the year. The area is also great for anyone who enjoys hiking, hunting and camping.
Of course, Jackpot casinos have more to offer than just slot machines and blackjack tables. The hotel casinos also feature nationally-known entertainment acts throughout the year. Cactus Pete’s, for example, has an indoor concert hall, an outdoor amphitheatre, and a cabaret club, and they have hosted acts ranging from ZZ Top to the Beach Boys. When completed, one of the planned resorts for Jackpot will even have its own indoor water park.
The town of Jackpot takes great pride in having the most modern Vegas-style games available. They also work hard to keep an old-Vegas atmosphere, where guests feel welcome and invited from the moment they arrive. Although Jackpot casinos may not be the first to come to mind, they are definitely worth visiting.
